Yes, yes, y'all! What's going on people? DJ Sean Sax here with the latest episode of the Soul on Ice Radio Show. Well, truth be told, not really. My arthritis was giving me a hard time for a couple of weeks. Not only was I unable to do my radio show for this past week, I couldn't even set up the podcast for the show from the week before. Well, I'm feeling a lot better so let's start getting things back on track shall we? Here's the playlist:
Cooley's Hotbox - Don't Be Afraid
Chrisette Michelle - Be OK
Lisa Shaw - Let It Ride [CAN]
Deesha - Everytime [CAN]
Luther Vandross - Shine
Up Hygh f Stefan Segolsson - It's Over
Owusu & Hannibal - Blue Jay
Slakah The Beatchild - Share [CAN]
IRS - TRACKS Lament [CAN]
Platinum Pied Pipers - I Got You

Lightnin' Hopkins - Katie
John Coltrane - Cattin'
Luther Vandross - Stop To Love
Anita Baker - Sweet Love
Isaac Hayes - Walk on By
Sly and The Family Stone - You Caught Me Smiling Again
Teddy Pendergrass - Close The Door
The playlist pretty much explains itself so I won't get into too much. I don't think I'd touched on the Blues in any of my Black History Month segments during February so I made sure to pay homage in this one. As usual, if the playlist sparks your interest, feel free to download/stream the show and enjoy. Catch you all next week. Soul on Ice Baby!

Hey Soul on Ice fans! Sorry for the late post of this episode of the show. Your boy Sean Sax has a birthday coming up and his body decided to remind of just how old he really is. Hahaha! An aching back slowed me down but, nevertheless, I've got the goods for my people:

As you can see, I started off the show with a nod to some of my favourite Grammy nominees of 2008. I repped for my Canadian peeps before ending this off with this show's Black History Month segment.
Sorry about the delay on the Dilla mix as well. Let's just say that hunching over turntables is not the most favoured position of my spine these days. I'll get back to you all with it soon enough. Enjoy this show in the meantime. Soul on Ice Baby!

So this one is late. REALLY late. Basically it was supposed to be out this past summer. I thought about scrapping it because the music was a bit out of date. Then I realized that this ain't some commercial radio station! I'm here to provide you with GOOD music and GOOD music has no expiry date! This one is a mix of soulful house, broken beat and nu-jazz stylees. Big up to Wanluv from Shaman Fam for hosting. Look out for the next MOJO party here in T-Dot. We're just waiting for the snow to clear then we'll hit y'all with the goodness

Here it is! Bam! What is up Soul on Ice fans? I'm back with another episode of the show. I start of with a little tribute to two masters of their respective Black music fields, J Dilla and Bob Marley. Both men celebrate their birthdays in the month of February so honouring their art and their lives worked in nicely with the Black History/ Afrikan Liberation month theme of this week's show. Here's the playlist:
Dilla/Bob Tribute
DJ Spinna f Phonte – Dillagence
Bob Marley – Forever Loving Jah
The Liquid Crystal Project – Tribute to Dilla
Bob Marley – Johnny Was
ZO! – 4 Dilla
Skymark f Spacek – How U Gonna Feel
H2O Productions f Jeremy – Superman
Voyce f Kardinal Offishal – Intoxicated [CAN]
Kevin Michael – Hood Buzzin’
Jeff Hendrick – I Like The Way [CAN]
I15 – Lost In Love
Jarrard Anthony – What’s Going Down (rmx)
Clara Hill – Hard to Say
Black History Month Segment
Quincy Jones – Theme from Sanford and Son
Roy Ayers – Coffey is The Color
Curtis Mayfield – Freddy’s Dead
Aretha Franklin – Respect
Donny Hathaway – Someday We’ll All Be Free
Jill Scott – Not Like Crazy
Janet Jackson – Got Til It’s Gone
D’Angelo – Lady
Destiny’s Child – So Good
Raphael Saadiq – Still Ray
Raheem Devaughn – Friday (Shut The Club Down)
Playa – Don’t Stop The Music
J Rawls f Tavaris – Smile Again
Between the tribute and Black History Month selections, I didn't get a lot of Canadian content in this week. As usual, I will try to make up for it next show. I also apologise for the tardiness regarding the new MOJO mix that was supposed to be up AGES ago (Wan is gonna' KILL me!). It's been a very cold/ dark/ snowy/ windy/ depressing/icy period of winter here in Toronto for the past couple of days and it's put me in a decidedly unproductive/ sleepy mood
I will get that MOJO mix up in the next couple of days. As a bonus for my lateness, I will do a lil' J Dilla tribute mix as compensation for making y'all wait
Who loves ya'? Soul On Ice Baby!

Hey Folks! Sean Sax here with the first Soul on Ice Radio episode of 2008! I was running late with production so I had to do the show from my laptop using a USB mic, hence the less than stellar quality of my voiceover. The music, however, came through shining! Take a look at the playlist and if you like what you see or are curious about some of the tracks that you may not know, give this episode a listen. Thanks. Soul on Ice Baby!

As the year comes to an end, Soul on Ice plans on going out with a bang! One of our most popular collabo parties returns in the form of MOJO - Music vs. The Machine. As usual, this is a Shaman Fam collaboration and will feature Spence Diamonds (Foundation Room), DJ Agile (Brassmunk), WanLuv (Shaman Fam) and DJ Sean Sax (Soul on Ice). MOJO will bring you the best in all modern forms of Black music. Expect to hear r&b, hip-hop, house, funk and nu-soul standards with dancehall, soca and brukbeat niceness mixed throughout. As our boy P-Plus likes to put it, "VIBES!"
So book your sitter, gas up your ride, purchase those new patent leather knee highs or draw straws for the night's designated driver. Do whatever it takes because on Dec. 15th, MOJO returns . . . with a vengeance!
